ARTIST-IN RESIDENCY AT MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY

KADDISH filmmaker Steve Brand was invited for a two-day Artist-in-Residency visit to Millersville University in Lancaster, PA. (April 21 –22, 2025), where he showed the 4K restoration of KADDISH to a community audience of 300 followed by a lively Q&A, as part of Millersville’s "On Screen/In Person" film series, in partnership with Millersville's Holocaust & Genocide Conference.
Many thanks to the pre-screening panel discussion group: Dr. Jack Fischel, Rabbi Jack Paskoff, Dr. Victoria Khitterer, Dr. Jeff Mufson,  and Educator Julia Fallows; and special thanks to Robin Zaremski, Director of The Arts at Millersville and Dean Ieva Zeke of the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.

Steve also met with several classrooms of students to talk about the issues raised by the film.

The themes of the rise of fascism, dehumanization of those who seem different, intergenerational trauma, fears of a coming apocalypse, transcending victimhood and emerging protest movements are more relevant today than ever.
Many thanks to Professors  Marlene Arnold (Anthropology of Religion), Jane Marie Clipman (Social Psychology), Robert Spicer (Communications) and Madeleine Darmiento (MU Arts Alive) who graciously invited Steve into their classrooms, and to Barry Kornhauser of Millersville's Office of Visual & Performing Arts for organizing the event.
We look forward to doing more of these valuable exchanges in the future.
